Step – 1 ) JEE Main Performance Stage
Before applying for JEE Advanced, you should go for JEE Main exam. Candidates should get the rank among the top 2,50,000 rankers in JEE Main. After that, they become eligible for JEE Advanced.

Step – 2 ) Age Limit
The candidates born on or after October 1, 1996, are eligible. On the other hand, SC, ST, and PwD candidates have 5 years of relaxation. Thus, this age limit criteria should be followed.
Step – 3 ) Eligibility based on Board Exam 12th Class Or Any Other Equivalent Exams
The students should have passed class 12th board exams or any other equivalent exam in the year 2020. Further, those who are appearing for the 2021 Board Exams are also eligible for this. In addition, students from the year 2020 can apply for this. The only condition is that their result should be declared after June 2020.
Class 12th Board Examinations Marks Criteria:
- General Category Students – Minimum of 75% of marks
- SC, ST, and PWD Categories Students – Minimum of 65% of marks
Category wise Top 20 Percentile Condition:
The students should get their names in the list of category-wise top 20 percentile. In addition, this is a must condition for them.
Step – 4 ) Eligibility Criteria of Top 20 Percentile
Further, to fulfill the condition, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Optional Languages & Optional Subject are selected. It is used for the calculation of the cut-off marks and aggregate.
